Fund overview

DMXASF is a long-only equity fund that primarily invests in ASX-listed smaller companies, with the ability to invest up to 20% in NZX-listed and up to 10% in unlisted securities. The objective of the Fund is to generate strong absolute returns for its investors over the medium and long term. To achieve this objective, the Fund invests in a carefully-constructed portfolio of smaller companies that we consider are yet to be recognised by the broader market and therefore offer the potential for meaningful returns over time.

DMXASF employs a replication strategy whereby it seeks to replicate at least 50% of the positions/exposures within the highly successful DMX Capital Partners portfolio, while blending a number of slightly larger (though still relatively small) companies. The Fund may be characterised as micro and small-cap focused (with a principal focus on $20m-$500m market value companies).

This targeted holding number provides a good balance between concentrating capital into high-conviction ideas, while ensuring diversification principles are adhered to.
Smaller company focus
This provides exposure to a basket of companies that have asymmetric return potential. It also means a idiosyncratic portfolio exposures that might perform quite differently from other portfolios/assets and thus blend well as part of investors’ broader asset allocation programme.
Flexibility to invest in NZX-listed or unlisted securities
We’re wholly focused on identifying quality opportunities in Australian listed smaller companies. But if incidental to our process we identify a NZX-listed security, or have an excellent opportunity in an unlisted security, we have flexibility to take advantage of these in a limited way. This provides investors with the potential to benefit from unexpected, unconventional or otherwise difficult-to-access opportunities from time-to-time.
